The company behind Bowtrol does not specialize in colon cleansing or IBS treatments. In fact, they have dozens of similar sites promoting the latest fad products: Whether you have unwanted hair, not enough hair, want to enhance the size of your breasts, or just want to quit smoking, they’ve got the cure! (You’ll see all these products pop up when you’re trying to check out. One after the other after the other. We were just about ready to abandon the shopping cart but we had to proceed with the order to bring you a fair assessment of the product.)

Standard shipping is an outrageous $19.95 when you buy four bottles. For an extra $5.95, they’ll even get the package to you in 3-7 days, which is really just UPS Ground and not an upsell with other companies we’ve ordered from. Here’s the sales pitch: “During periods of high demand, delivery time is up to 1-3 weeks. But, we know you'll want to start seeing the benefits of your product even sooner, so we can expedite your order today, and have it delivered in just 3-7 business days for only an additional $5.95.”

We really don’t like companies that pretend to give you a good deal on the product you’re buying, only to get you with the shipping at check out.

The payout for their affiliate program is as high as 50% per sale, which really makes us question what the quality of the product is like. It costs a great deal of money to purchase quality herbal ingredients and to put an effective and safe product on the market. When this company is paying out a 50% commission to affiliates plus spends a fortune on advertising AND can still make money on their products, just where are they getting their products from and at what price? But then again, they do make plenty of money on the shipping.

Bowtrol Complaints

Then there were other issues. For example, we could not find an address for the Bowtrol company on the website no matter how hard we looked. There wasn’t even any information on the Contact Us page. In our opinion, any reputable online company will gladly post its contact information.

You are offered three weight loss bonuses when you order Bowtrol. Free bonuses are always a nice thing but these bonuses all relate to weight loss and not IBS or colon cleansing. And the value they place on them is beyond ridiculous. $75.00 value for a weight loss hypnosis download? Give us a break!

They offer a money back guarantee for up to six months, minus a processing fee and shipping. We were not sure what all this meant until we found this little link next to the copyright notice at the bottom of their website.

Bowtrol’s Return Policy

“All Club Discount auto shipment orders are non refundable and our guarantee only applies to your original purchase***

Please try and honestly use our unique product as directed. If you are not satisfied with the program once finished, you are eligible to request a refund of the purchase price less shipping and handling. You have 15 days to request a refund after you complete your program.

Program is defined by the package you purchase. If you purchase a 1 month supply, your program is one month. If you purchase a 2 month supply, your program is 2 months. If you purchase a 4 month supply, your program is 4 months. If you purchase a 6 month supply, your program is 6 months. You must finish your program in order to be eligible for a refund.

To request a refund you must obtain an RMA (Return Authorization). Requests must be made online and submitted with your order information and explanation of why you wish to return the product. You will recieve your RMA via email once our customer service department has identified your eligibility for a return under our policy. Please do not call for an RMA. If you return your product without a RMA number you will not be refunded.

Once you RECEIVE (not request) your RMA you have 15 days to return the empty packaging for a refund. The empty packaging is required for mfg. credit. You will only receive a credit on the bottles that are returned with your RMA. If the package is not received within 15 days you will not be eligible for the refund.

*Refund Processing Fee: $10 Per item e.g. 1 bottle return = $10 Fee. 2 bottle return - $20 Fee.”

In simple terms here’s what it means: If you buy say 3 bottles, you get 1 bottle free, and you just bought a 4-month supply. If you’re unhappy with their product after using it for 2 weeks, you are not allowed to send it back until the end of the 4th month. Then you have to submit an online RMA request to them explaining why you want your money back. Then you’ll receive an RMA code by email once their “customer service department has identified your eligibility for a return under our policy”. If you return your product without an RMA, sorry, but “you will not be refunded”. They deduct $10/bottle as a processing fee, plus you don’t get the shipping charge back. If you buy just 3 bottles (and get 4), and successfully return them following all their complicated rules, you could lose up to $65.00 just on the processing fees and inflated shipping charges.

If you were so careless and signed up for their auto shipment orders, then you get no refunds at all.

These are not the hallmarks of a customer-friendly company. Please make sure you are fully aware of Bowtrol’s policies before placing an order with them.
